Who Can Benefit from Breast Asymmetry Correction?

Breast,Asymmetry,After,Pregnancy,Due,To,Breastfeeding.,Young,Mother,WithMany women experience breast asymmetry to a degree. However, some have breasts that have a significant difference in size. In these cases, breast asymmetry correction can be very rewarding. Breast asymmetry can be caused by one breast resting higher on your chest or a difference in shape or size. Dr. Rachel Walker at the Plastic Surgery Center of Dallas can correct uneven breasts and help you achieve your desired appearance.

Correcting Breast Position

Breast asymmetry caused by a difference in breast position is more difficult to repair. In some cases, if the breast fold is significantly defined, adding implants won’t correct it because of the location of the breast fold. In these cases, Dr. Walker can try to use different-sized breast implants to make your breasts as even as possible.

If the asymmetry is visible enough, but the breast folds are close enough, the surgeon can use different techniques, including biplanar pocket formation, to correct the asymmetry.

If the areolas are not even, your surgeon can reposition it with a crescent mastopexy. This allows up to a one-centimeter difference in location. For those who require a larger adjustment, the surgeon can move the areola in any position with more extensive mastopexy procedures.

Correcting Size Differences

In most cases, asymmetrical breasts also have different shapes. Intraoperative sizers can get the breasts as close in size and shape as possible. The Plastic Surgery Center of Dallas can use creative reshaping, pocket sculpting techniques, and different-sized implants to get your breasts as close to the same shape and size as possible.

Candidates for Breast Asymmetry Correction

In most cases, the breasts are never perfectly even, but if there is a noticeable difference, we can make the necessary corrections.

Candidates for this procedure are in generally good health to undergo surgery. Before surgery, you will have a consultation that includes a physical exam. During the consultation, Dr. Walker will discuss your goals, take measurements, and take photos to assist during surgery so you can see your results.
