Breast Surgery Revision

Some women with breast implants develop tissue thinning, sagging or firm scar tissue build up over time, requiring surgical revision to correct an undesirable result. “Breast implants aren’t perfect,” says Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Gregory Stagnone. “Some women develop excessive scar tissue repetitively following breast augmentation. Known as capsular contracture, it can develop from months to years after the implants are placed, causing an unnaturally hard feel and, in later stages, a deforming appearance. In other cases, the implant can cause stretching of the tissues and shifting implant position. These outcomes can become frustrating experiences for women who have invested their time and resources in improving their appearance, only to be disappointed based on their body’s reaction to the implant. I have been using Strattice Reconstructive Tissue Matrix to combat some of these difficult revision problems. When placed internally around the implant, Strattice can reinforce its position and add coverage to help with visible surface rippling. It also appears to significantly reduce recurrence of capsular contracture. With Strattice and proven tissue reshaping techniques, we’ve come a long way. Strattice and other similar materials (such as BellaDerm) have definitely changed our results in difficult revision breast surgery”. Dr. Stagnone specializes in complex breast implant revisions. r. Gregory Stagnone is a Board Certified plastic surgeon in Dallas, Tx. He founded The Plastic Surgery Center of Dallas.
