Lip Enhancement (view also
Liposuction)
There are many methods to create a fuller or more youthful
mouth. Restylane or Collagen can be injected into the lips,
creating a plumper and more sensuous appearance without
surgery. Injectables are the least expensive method of
lip enhancement, however the effects gradually fade with time.
Restylane is newer than Collagen and is wildly popular because
it does appear to have a very significant effect for many
months.
If you are planning to have liposuction, it may be a
good time to consider "plumping up" your lips, scars, or the
folds located on either side of the nose using transferred
fat. Fat taken from the liposuctioned area can be
injected (fat grafted) to almost any area. Lips are the
most requested areas to be enhanced using this method.
Fat offers a natural feel and movement but a variable amount
of the fat transferred will be reabsorbed by the body.
Individual results vary and usually the best results come with
more than one fat transfer procedure.
Lip lifts are effective for those with a long lip which is
rolled in and thin. A segment of the upper lip skin is trimmed
away near the base of the nose, allowing the lip to be lifted
and everted. Lip lift incisions are partially inside the
nose and are usually well hidden. This procedure is
permanent.
The best results usually come from a combination of these
procedures, especially lip lifting with a filler.
Gore-Tex implants or threads are permanent but may work their
way out and are frequently imperfectly positioned and
visible, therefore these are not offered at the Plastic
Surgery Center of Dallas. Silicone lip injections are
banned by the FDA and should not be considered.

Impressions of beauty change with
time – as do our faces as we age. With these injectable
fillers, you can have a natural beauty lift with the body’s
own material called hyaluronic acid. RESTYLANE/JUVÉDERM™
are crystal-clear, biodegradable gels based on
this substance which is found naturally throughout the
body, in between our cells. The gel is injected
into the skin with a very fine needle. The
result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting, natural
enhancement. In our practice, these fillers have almost
completely replaced the use of collagen due to their
superior duration of action
Since 1996, more than a million
people have been successfully treated in more than 60
countries worldwide.
Since it 's introduction in 1996, hyaluronic acid has undergone
extensive histological and clinical studies with an increasing
body of evidence relating to its ease of use, tolerability and
effectiveness. Today, more than one million treatments have
been successfully carried out worldwide.
